Up-cycle Lonely Earrings into Bejeweled Bobby Pins
It happens to the best of us — you get a beautiful new set of earrings and two weeks later your happy pair turns into a solo act. One earring lost forever to the land of missing socks and chapstick. You hang onto your lone earring in the hopes that you’ll serendipitously find its other half wedged between the couch cushions one day. That day never comes.
I myself have a small collection of these lonely earrings just pining to adorn and bring beauty to the world again. I’ve been thinking of a way to put them to good use and think I’ve hit upon it. When searching for some pretty bobby pins I was struck by inspiration to make my own. This simple project takes only a few minutes to do and will make good use of singlings. That is, until your new bobby pin gets lost….
Until then, here is what you’ll need:
- Old earrings
- Wire cutters
- Bobby pins
- Super Glue
Take your wire cutters and cut off any posts or portions of the earring you don’t want.
Apply super glue to the bobby pin and to the back of the earring. Press the earring to the bobby pin until it dries into place. Be careful not to glue the bobby pin opening together.
After your glue has dried admire your hard work and then arrange prettily in your hair.
Until next time!
